Description
A threaded flange is a type of flange that is designed to be screwed onto the end of a pipe. It has internal threads that match the external threads on the pipe, allowing the flange to be easily installed or removed. Threaded flanges are typically used in low-pressure applications, and are commonly found in plumbing and irrigation systems, as well as in some industrial and chemical processing applications.
Threaded flanges are typically made from materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel and are available in a range of sizes and pressure ratings. They are typically designed with a raised face or flat face and are installed using a gasket to provide a leak-tight seal.
Threaded flanges offer several advantages over other types of flanges. They are relatively easy to install and can be quickly and easily removed for maintenance or repair. They also offer a high degree of flexibility, as they can be used in a wide range of piping systems, and can be adapted to suit different applications or requirements.
However, threaded flanges also have some disadvantages. They are generally not suitable for high-pressure applications, as the threaded connection can become damaged or stripped under high stress. They are also more prone to leakage than other types of flanges and require careful installation and maintenance to ensure a proper seal.
Threaded Flanges (Screwed flanges) are similar to slip-on flanges in outline, but the bore is threaded, thus enabling assembly without welding. This obviously limits its application to relatively low-pressure piping systems. Threaded Flanges may be welded around the joint after assembly, but this is not considered a satisfactory method of increasing the flanges’ pressure applications.
